Indian Squad For 2022 Commonwealth Games – 215 Members Confirmed

Two hundred-member Indian teams will travel to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games. The Games are held from July 28 through August 8. It includes 108 male and107 female athletes.

Some athletes are already in the UK for training, competition or acclimatization.

Others are on professional assignments elsewhere and will be arriving in Birmingham.

The rest of the athletes will leave India within the next few weeks.

The contingent’s total strength will be 322, which includes 72 team officials and 26 additional officials.

There will also be nine contingent staff members, as well as three general managers.

The flag-bearer for the opening ceremony will be Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic champion. Indian athletes will compete in 16 different disciplines.

After Onkar Singh, the chairman of the Cycling Federation of India, resigned, Rajesh Bhandari was named chef de mission.

Anil Khanna, acting president of IOA, stated that Onkar ji had withdrawn because he was busy with the National Games. Onkar was initially named chef de mission.

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced that the gold medal-winning athletes will receive Rs.20 lakh.

In a ceremony held here on Thursday, IOA secretary general Rajeev Mehta stated that silver winners will receive Rs.10 lakh and bronze winners Rs.7.5 lakh.

The 22nd edition will be held in 2022. With 66 medals, India finished third behind Australia and England in Gold Coast 2018.

This included 26 gold, 20 silver, and one bronze. India’s best performance was in Delhi 2010, which they placed behind Australia.

“The Olympic Games performance last year was our best and we have witnessed the improvements in our athletes across all sports with our own eyes.”

Anurag Thakur was the chief guest of the ceremony and said that the historic Thomas Cup win was an example. He also stated that he was very happy for the team’s gender balance.
