What I do, where I work
By day, I am a physics & physical science teacher in Tucson, AZ. In my “spare” time I work on an overgrown hobby which has evolved into the non-profit science education outreach, the Physics Factory. We bring physics demonstrations & exhibits to kids in a vegetable-oil-powered school bus. Whenever I can, I find ways to integrate my classroom teaching job with the Physics Factory; students creating & presenting their own exhibits has been a great way to mix the two, and with college mentors to help them—even better. When I’m not juggling all the above, plus a family, I design and prototype mechanical exhibits. My 10 foot long Kundts tube has been a real hit in Tucson, and now I’m working on a 5 foot diameter Wimshurst machine.
