Hints for exhibition designers and curators who have to deal with us collection managers and registrars

  • Recently, I was asked to write an article about interdisciplinary teamwork for a German exhibition designer’s blog (www.ausstellungen-einstellungen.de). For I know both sides, I chose the issues that occur between registrar/collections manager and curator/exhibition coordinator/exhibition designer during the process of making an exhibition. In short: why they talk at cross-purposes instead of complementing each other to a perfect team – and what can be done to avoid that.
The feedback was interesting: While registrars found it was exactly what every exhibition designer should know, the exhibition designers told me they understand registrars a little better now.
So, I translated the article into English to share with international friends and colleagues.
Please find it attached, hope you will find it helpful – and maybe a bit entertaining.
